The 'Green Corridor'

Distance: 1 3/4 miles (3.5 km)
Means of travel: Walk, cycle or horse-ride

MAP

This trail, (the Green Corridor), is an easy walk, mainly level. It was officially opened at the end of March 2006. It's an excellent route for people of all ages to enjoy, giving the opportunity to cycle, walk or horse ride from the town of St Austell. The start/end of this trail is in Tremena Gardens, St Austell. (See map below).

The pathway, starting from St Austell, looks over the railway viaduct with views of the clay hills on the skyline. Turning to run parallel with the Bodmin road which you can just see below through the trees, the path cuts into a wooded hillside. Along the way you discover old abandoned clay driers, grown over with foliage and tall brick chimneys towering upwards. The path links up with the William Cookworthy Bridge. There is a left fork along the route that leads you to the Wheal Martyn China Clay Country Park. The right fork takes you onto the Wheal Martyn Trail which leads to Eden. This is an easy pathway, affording views both wide and enclosed within the trees, making an important link with the town of St Austell and the other trails of the clay country.
